Advanced Placement (AP) enables students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. AP courses, each culminating in a rigorous exam given exclusively in May, provide students with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement or both. OHS offers AP courses in Art & Design, Art History, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, European History, French Language, Human Geography, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Music Theory, Physics, Psychology, Spanish Language and Culture, Statistics, U.S. Government and Politics, U.S. History, and World History.
Students are not required to take an AP course prior to taking an exam. College credit policies based upon AP exam scores may be found by checking college catalogs/websites or by using the AP Credit Policy search at www.collegeboard.com/ap/creditpolicy.
The cost of each AP exam is $100. OHS students choosing to take an AP exam will be required to pay the full amount for each exam they want to take by the deadline date.
Registration and payment deadline is March 7, 2025.
Exams ordered after November 8 will incur an additional $40 charge. Students should be certain they will take the AP exams they sign up for as there is a $40 fee for any ordered but unused exam.
Two steps to sign up for AP testing:
1. Registration:
To register for an exam, students must log into their MyAP account and join your class. All
student accounts are set to "Undecided" for testing. Any student wishing to take the exam must
change this to "Yes." An AP Exam cannot be ordered for you if you have not joined your AP
course online through college board.
- Students must have one single College Board account (if you have more than one, please contact AP and merge your accounts).
- Keep Your MyAp Account Login Information For Future Reference.
2. Payment
Payment will be made utilizing the SchoolStore within the parent or student Infinite Campus
account. Utilize these instructions for a step-by-step guide on how to complete your purchase.
Free/Reduce Lunch Fee Reduction: If you currently receive Free and Reduced Lunch, please
contact Ms. Badami for a fee reduction. Qualified students will be charged $53 per exam.
Fall Registration—The exam ordered by Friday, November 8, 2024, will cost $100 per exam (Free/Reduced lunch $53 per exam ). If you are a student who currently receives Free or reduced lunch, follow the instructions above.
Late Registration—Exams ordered between November 9, 2024, to March 7, 2025, will have a $40 late fee added to them per College Board. Full-cost exams will be $140 ($100+$40 (late fee)). Free/Reduced lunch exams will be $93 ($53+$40 (late fee)).
**March 7 is the FINAL DAY any student can register for an AP exam**
Cancellation/unused tests- If a student chooses to cancel their AP Exam, or does not show up on the date of the AP Exam, they will be charged a $40 cancellation fee per the College Board. Students wishing to cancel their AP Exam must provide a written statement to Ms. Badami.
Testing Location: AP Testing location is still being determined but may be off-site. In the event that testing is off-site, transportation will need to be provided. If your student is taking a morning AP exam, your student will need to provide their own transportation to the off-site location. If your student is taking an afternoon AP exam the student will need to provide their own transportation home after the exam is over. Midday bus transportation will be provided to/from school to/from the off-campus test site.
Students with documented disabilities may be eligible for accommodations on AP exams. Detailed information regarding this process is available at collegeboard.com/ssd. Students wishing to apply for accommodations must make a written request to the AP Coordinator by January 6, 2025.
