PROGRAM OVERVIEW 

BESt Healthcare Institute is a collaboration between Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Express Scripts, Inc. and University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (formerly St. Louis College of Pharmacy). The mission of the BESt Healthcare Institute is to expose and prepare local multicultural students for a future career in healthcare.  The mission is executed with a model that combines academics, exposure, and professional development. Academics focus on improving mathematics, science, professional development, and ACT/SAT skills during a four-week intensive summer program. 

Program Highlights: 

• 100% of BESt graduates attend 4-year universities, 87% choose a career in healthcare 

• Student stipends (earned based on merit, behavior, attitude, and adherence to program rules) 

• Up to 4 weeks of exposure to college life and health care providers
